The 2020 Rio School District and Hip Hop Mindset Hip Hop Ballet was scheduled to make it's big debut on Tuesday March 17th to a Sold Out crowd of 500+ people at the new Rio Del Sol STEAM School in Oxnard Ca! The cast was set to perform 7 shows throughout the following 3 days for students from several districts in Ventura County and closing the show Thursday March 19th with an evening show. The cast and crew had put in over 30 days of rehearsals (almost 100 hours of dancing) which began on January 13th 2020, videos had been filmed in Los Angeles, props were built and costumes were made. The kids were ready to perform, only 1 week remained till opening night, then all of a sudden the show came to a sudden halt on Tuesday March 10th due to the Corona Virus Event. The show had to be postponed for the moment and rescheduled to a future date which is yet unknown.
The Show Will Go On!
It was a difficult decision but one everyone felt was best for the safety and well being of our kids, staff and community. We plan to resume the show once everything is situated and safe for everyone. A new date will be announced in the near future. We will only come back with a bigger and better show for the community. We have asked some of the crew to let us know what the production means to them and what they are most looking forward to when the show returns! Read their responses below.
